Rita (Memere) Tousignant, 100, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Friday, November 29, 2019 surrounded by loving family. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late George and Valerie (Dufour) Gravel. She married the late Hector Tousignant in 1947 and lived with their family in Pawtucket for close to 50 years before they relocated to Cumberland. She is survived by her son, Robert Tousignant and his wife Anne, her brother, Gerard Gravel, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marie Horne and Susan Gladu. She was also the sister of the late Bertha Sasseville, Germaine and Arthur Gravel. Rita was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind many beautiful memories. She loved to crochet, and made beautiful afghans, poupons, and toques for everyone including newborn babies at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital where she volunteered for many years. She was loved by everyone who met her and will be truly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 4th at 11 AM in Saint John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. The family will receive guests prior to the Mass starting at 10:30 AM in Saint John Vianney Church. Burial will be private.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs Tousignant passing I just found this. I was a friend of her late daughter Sue Gladu. She was always so kind and welcoming. I’m glad to read she lived a long life. My condolences to you Bobby and your family.

I was Rita's hairdresser at Coats Manor. She and your dad were wonderful people. God bless her. She lived a long and faithful life. My condolences to you and all her grandchildren.

Had so much fun with Rita when I was a small child. Our friendship continued throughout our lifetime. She will be misssed.
