Shared an office with Rita when I became the first male nursing instructor at JJC in 1980. We always joked together and shared war stories. Was a great mentor to me and made me feel part of the faculty from the git-go. She had an infectious laugh that made you laugh regardless of the challenges!!!

Rita was my nursing instructor at JJC in the 90's. She was very knowledgeable, but what I remember most about her was her ability to listen & relate to her students. She was a kind women. My sincere condolences to your family.

Many years have passed since I knew Rita. I was a child of 11 and my grandmother lived across the street from her and her parents. She was so kind and loving. God Blessed me with knowing her. In later years, my daughter Roseann chummed with her girls, but I didn´t realize Rita was their Mom. How did she ever manage such a full life helping and loving others. Love and prayers to the family. Nikki Hrvatin.

Mrs Sova was my first nursing instructor. All of us were excited and terrified, but she took such good care of us. I still remember her sweet laugh and ready sense of humor. She listened, encouraged, and cared about us all as individuals and especially as adult learners. I went on to finish my BSN because of her encouragement, and I have a daughter who followed that path as well, because Rita taught us to love nursing and it showed. I still use her funny expressions about medicine and am...

Mrs. Sova was my first instructor at JJC. She cared so deeply for her students. She seemed to have a soft spot for returning, older students. Her encouragement and support helped more than just me to stick with the program and finish. Her stories of her experiences with life and nursing were inspirational. She seemed to enjoy LIFE. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. I feel I was a better nurse having had her as an instructor.

I don´t as fortunate to have Rita as a nursing instructor at Joliet Junior College. She was an inspiration and huge influence in my life and career. Rita´s husband was my grade school teacher and later my children´s teacher and was amazing.
