Not sure what to say?

What a wonderful picture and account of your father. I liked it even better than the NYT one. He was a very special person and his influence on all of you will last forever. I was always touched by his grace and warmness in spite of his many accomplishments. I knew him as Nancy's beloved father and grandpa to Rachel and Eben who also loved him deeply.

The Flemings and my parents, Gabriel and Beatrice Alexander both of blessed memory, were great friends for many, many years in Michigan and in Florida. I know my folks had great affection and admiration for Robben and Sally and I had the same feelings. I wish to extend my condolences to the Flemming family. "Even the weariest river winds somewhere safe to see."

During the years of great unrest in the 1960's, Bob Fleming served as a beacon of unflappable good judgment and sanity at a time when, not just Ann Arbor, but our entire country was in dire need of wise leadership. He gave the impression that if thousands had run through the streets screaming, "the sky is falling," he would probably have looked around for a minute and replied with calm conviction, "no, just look up--the sky is still there where it's always been!" And the mob would...

I am saddened to learn of the passing of President Fleming. He embodied elegance, grace and gentility--rare commodities nowadays.
He was president during my whole undergraduate time at Univ. of Mich. and I remember visiting him and Mrs. Fleming, a few times, at afternoon open houses at the President's House on campus. He shook my hand, smiled and welcomed me warmly. He will be deeply missed.

Robben Fleming was President during my tenure (29 years)with the faculty and administration of the School of Nursing. He was very supportive of my efforts in my role as Acting Dean in 1972-73. The School was able to make great strides in the improvement of physical space for faculty and improvement in their salaries with his support and that of V.P. Allen Smith and his staff. Go Blue! May Dr. Fleming always be remembered for his calm spirit during all the unrest! He will never be forgotten

Robben Fleming was a superb public figure. My father worked with him when he was CEO of UM hospital. I went to high school with his daughter Betsy who inherited her father's good cheer and optimism. This community owes him so much. My best wishes to his family.

I served on the Board of Regents during Bob Fleming's presidency and always respected and admired him. We experienced difficult times during the late 60's, but he was always on top of problems and gave the University great leadership. Moreover, he was a delightful man. Lawrence Lindemer

I was an undergrad during the time of Robben Flemming's tenure. I always had a good feeling about his leadership and was glad when he returned to the helm later in his career. It was a source of pride that he became the head of CPB. I wish the family wonderful memories to support them during this difficult time.
