Primed for Halloween
Robert Eaton could wear a funny hat ‹ or a Halloween costume ‹ with style.

A vice president for sales and for eSpeed at Cantor Fitzgerald, he always went along with a joke, especially on Oct. 31.

A big event for the English-born Mr. Eaton and his American wife, Jacqui, was their annual Halloween party at their home in Manhasset, on Long Island.

The party was such a staple, that even when Jacqui spent most of one Halloween in the hospital following a car accident, she came home at 10 p.m. only to be greeted by Robert and their friends waiting to begin the festivities.

Mr. Eaton's costume that night? Marv Albert, the sportscaster, behind the mike and knee deep in legal trouble.

Mr. Eaton, 37, had other interests: he loved his two German short-haired pointers, Frankie and Wetherby, and was pretty good at soccer.

He and his wife did not hold a Halloween party in 2000 because they were renovating their house.

This past Halloween was difficult for Jacqui, who had met Robert on a blind date in 1991 and married him a couple of years later.

Just before Sept. 11, Mr. Eaton was already talking to his wife about possible costumes, pumpkins and party decorations.

Not sure what to say?

Remembering my best friend at school Robert Eaton - A true force of nature and an incredibly talented guy in many ways - taken far too soon - RIP Rob

Hi Rob. I took the kids to find your name at the memorial site last week ( they found it before me) and then showed them your photos inside. I told them stories about our times in Hampden house at Brighton College. You were so brave in showing me the wheals from Bill Blackshaw´s unkindness. I suspect you would have smiled, looking back after your successes at the likes at Cantor Fitzgerald. You were also in my year at Balfour and would have groaned when we found at we had Mrs Camillyn for the...

I don't know Robert, but we share the same last name. Perhaps somewhere in our geneology we are related. Regardless, I pray for his family and pay respect for their loss. God bless you.

I worked with Rob at Lehmans in London. He had a friendly sense of humor. We played squash together. He was 100% competitive & always won. I went to his family home one day & he played a recording of his singing. I loved my time working with Rob & have always been devastated by the news. He will live on through this memorial trust & I will always fondly remember him. Craig Douglas kiwi from New Zealand. [email protected]
