Robert Wilmer Akers of Hillsvile, VA, born July 24, 1935 went to receive his heavenly reward on Sunday, November 29, 2020. He was a devoted pastor of Full Gospel Holiness CHurch in Hillsville, VA for 53 years. He was a singer/songwriter of many Gospel songs t hroughout the years. He was the definition of a public servant for Jesus always striving to help those in need, spreading the message of the gospel and covering many in prayers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ima Irene Akers, his parents, Roscoe Allen Akers and Bessie Columbia Bullion Akers, brothers, John Wesley Akers, Sidney Allen Akers and Sisters, Betty Pauline Lineberry and Margerie Fern Ogle.
He is survived by his sons, Kelvin (Sarah) Akers of Draper, VA and Michael (Jeannie) Akers of Hillsville, VA, grandchildren, Beth (Clayton) Cox, Adam (Autumn) Akers, Andrew (Marcy) Akers, Grayson Akers, Isaac Akers and Daniel Akers, Kelsi (Jacob) Lilly, Desiree Hicks and Conner Hicks., Great grandchildren, Carson, Safarie, Laken Tobias, Ezekiel, Ava, Gracelyn and Madilyn. His brothers, Raymond Dale Akers (Fay) Howard Akers, Sister Eujeanie Maxine Burnette and Sister-in-law, IIene Akers, a host of nieces, nephews and special friends he gained throughout the years survived. A memorial service in his honor is being planned for a later date.
