Robert J. Alden

Bob was a childhood friend of mine. I remember his wonderful smile and sense of humor. He once ran away from Our Lady School and we found him in Showboat Park hiding during our altar boy picnic. He had a great grin on his face as he peered over a bush by the pool. It was a long time ago but his smile sticks in my mind. My best wishes to his family. As you can see, even though the years have passed, Bob and his memory will live on.

My sister Diane Esmer, who lives in St. Charles, called me this morning with the shocking news of Bob's passing. I was a high school classmate of his and have many fond memories of him during those days long ago. It does not surprise me in the least of his success in life...his ability to add to the quality of another person's life.
