Not sure what to say?

Mrs A and Family,
My sincerest regrets and regards. Mr. A was my 5th and 6th grade teacher at Kaiser Elementary and he was the best! I didn't appreciate it at the time but I think he gets credit for teaching me to dream. Mr. A took 4 of us on a road trip to MN and WI. His family and friends couldn't have been more kind. Mr. A was always a blessing...and now he can rest! He lives in my heart always. Peace

Was thinking about Bob today and began a Google search. Didn't take long, and imagine my shock and surprise to learn of his recent death. Bob and I were students at UM together, living in Winchell House of West Quad. We stayed in touch after I graduated in 1967 and began USAF service in Germany. At about the same time, he did his Peace Corps work in India. One day, I received a letter addressed to "John Jay, USAF Base near Trier West Germany". (Wonder if such an address would work today.)...

We are sorry to learn of the passing of Robert, but grateful for his service to our nation with the Peace Corps in India.

Our Condolences,

The National Peace Corps Association

Julie, I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's illness and passing. I know he was an incredible and tireless advocate for so many worthwhile causes over the years and positively impacted many lives. I understand how painful this loss can be and hope that the void in your life will be filled with the care and support of family and friends.

I became acquainted with Bob at a meeting of the Ingham County Democratic Party in 2012 and thence followed his progressive caucus leadership. Repeatedly I was impressed with his analysis of elections and his unflagging spokesmanship for human rights and peace. Bob addressed me by name whenever we had a personal encounter.

I volunteered for Bob's 2008 Congressional Campaign. Later i worked with him on gathering petition signatures to raise the minimum wage. Apparently he had a passion for working to make life better for the typical person.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I worked in the Senate Fiscal Agency when Bob was in the Senate. He was a friend who helped me move my family into a new house when I was a single parent. Good heart and soul. Sorry to hear about his struggle with cancer.

Bob was a neighbor and friend for years. He's going to be missed more than words can say, not only right here in the neighborhood but all around East Lansing. So many memories.... I can recall any number of times times finding him stationed outside the Wharton Center, on bitterly cold nights with temperatures in the single digits, gathering petition signatures for one or the other of the worthy causes he supported. He lives on in our hearts as an extraordinary person and an example for the...
