My condolences and sympathy to the Allen family. It is rather odd that I was thinking of Dr. Allen (as I always called him) just the other day. He had a significant impact on my life. He hired me, fresh out of college, to work with him in his lab at MUSC (1973). It was through him I learned all about polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (and many other things).
