Not sure what to say?

As a graduate of Bell Gardens HS, 1967 I only knew Bob from the few basketball scrimmages he and other teammates attended and the two Championship CIF awards from 1961/62 seasons that sat in our school's trophy case. This was a great source of athletic pride for myself and other Lancers, who desired to do the same. May you rest in peace.

When I was an undergraduate student, I emailed Bob because I was conducting research for a community history project. He promptly responded to my message regarding his high school coach, Emmet Birk, former basketball standout at the University of North Dakota.

His example of supporting me with a research paper led me to think about helping younger generations with assignments and life lessons.

Miss my big brother.

Marilyn I was browsing for my old buds when I came across this. What a guy! I told my Barbara and we both express our sympathies.

I am very sad to learn of Bob's passing. Good guy. When my sister, Kerry Townsend Bouchier, would bring me up to Stanford for a weekend every year - I was thrilled to meet the players on the Stanford basketball team: Ray Kosanke, Clayton Raaka, Art Harris, Bob Bedell, et al. Bob was both fun to be around, and a terrific friend to my sister. He will be missed. Thank you, Dan Townsend, Long Beach, CA.

Pink's book signing May 16, 2015

Bob and I sat and talked a while at Lloyd Gardner's book signing in May. Although we hadn't seen each other since we worked together in the Kentucky Colonels office, it was like time stood still. He still had that amazing quick wit and giant smile. I'm so glad I had a chance to visit with him one more time.

Rest in peace, Bob. We played basketball together for 4 years at Stanford and he was both a friend as well as a constant source of quips, puns, jokes & general humor. We also had a memorable series of games together in Europe for Gulf Oil. My condolences to all his family & friends.

Hello Marilyn. I was so sorry to see Bob's obituary. I send my condolences to you , Robert, John and their families. It is a difficult time...I carry you in my thoughts and prayers.
Barbara Carpenter and Family

I retired in the past year and had lost contact with Bob. I was very saddened to learn of his death. He was, as others had mentioned, a very gregarious man but truly interested in what you might have to say. My daughter attended Stanford and he shared many of his experiences when he was a student there.
He always had a joke, and many of them were terrible. When asked how tall he was ( undoubtably a frequent question) he would reply "5 ft 20" and always get a strange look.
I will...
