Robert Bickal

We met on an airplane and struck up such a great conversation that we stayed in touch for years. Bob was generous, a library lover, and a sweet guy. He is missed.

I was always impressed with his intelligence and his in depth analysis and understanding of the major issues of the day. I did make the mistake one day of telling him about I great band I heard at the Sacramento Jazz Festival. When he heard them he said, "They are a doggy band!" Only later did I realize he really knew what he was talking about. I also will remember what a terrific cook he was, though, he left an incredible amount of cooking pots and pans for the dishwashers to clean up.
