Robert and I were in high school ROTC together as classmates in the Class of (January) 1955 at Highland Park High School. We met infrequently after graduation, but remained dear friends over the years and communicated by email more often than we met in person. I have the greatest respect for him and feel deep and sincere sympathy for all his family members. Well done, Robert, be thou at peace.

To his dear widow Merida, we offer our prayers and loving thoughts and always know that you indeed do have a second family here in Houston. To his children who are surely grieving at the moment please know that our dear God makes no mistakes. Your father was a great man who...

I enjoyed our debates as I think he did as well. He was a great treasurer of Inter Canyon Fire Protection Board...
