Robert William "Bob" Blake

Bob and I were young hires at SUNY Brockport. We came to know each other first as doctoral students at the University of Rochester. One of my biggest disappointments was leaving Brockport and the many friends Bob and I shared. So many years since we have communicated without any good reason. Life takes us on strange and different paths. Bob always was one of my favorite people. He was bright, witty and just plain charming a really nice guy.

We are sincerely sorry about your loss. May God comfort you during this difficult time.

Thirty years ago, I was a graduate student of Dr. Blake's in several education classes. Additionally, he was my advisor and reader of my Master's thesis.
I can vividly recall his advocacy and love of education. He was an extremely competent teacher and mentor and a brilliant man; however, it was his kindness that I best remember.

I crossed paths for the first time with Bob at the Day Sailer North American Championships with my best friend Chris Snow when we drove from Cape Cod as teenagers to compete in Brockport. It is with great sadness I read of Bob's passing.
I knew Bob as a friend and sailing competitor for many years.
My late wife Nina fully enjoyed their conversations on many subjects when they met.
I feel sure that DUMPLING will continue to sail on for many years.
You and Bob Jr were a great team!
