Not sure what to say?

The world has lost one of the truly great men. He was a friend and mentor to our family from the day Jim was two weeks old, and for the next 55 years He was always there for us and helped us through so many difficult times. He helped form The Cleft Family group to support new parents in the Portland area. There are lives in which he made a difference all over the world. He will be deeply missed. He was so proud of Barbara and shared the delight when Brittany was Rose Festival princess. We...

I was so saddened to hear about Bob's passing. He was a wonderful and caring person. In addition he was a superb clinician, teacher and mentor. I treasure the times he spent with me as I went through the doctoral program with him "coaching" me all the way. He was always so encouraging and positive and I know he will be missed by all of us. But he left a wonderful legacy of research, students he taught, & patients he served. He was loved and respected by all. Fondly and sincerely,...

I was saddened to read of Dr. Blakely's passing. He was my doctor some 40 years ago at what was then the Crippled Children's Hospital. I will always remember his big, handsome, warm smile as he asked me to practice "Buy baby a bib", "Go get a bigger egg", and of course, "Suzi sells seashells by the seashore". He was so encouraging, it made me want to practice to make him proud of me. My speech is great now. No one knows by my speech that I have a cleft lip and palate. He was a special doctor...

The support that Bob provided for me, a school based SLP, was profound and deeply appreciated. His knowledge, kindness, fun and willingness to help made a positive difference in so many lives. Sally Hancock, retired SLP

My wife and I were very sad to read of the passing of DR.Blakeley. He was my HERO and my superman when I was a child needing care for a cleft palate. He was someone I had great respect for and I will never forget him. He was a wonderful man and a wonderful Doctor. Larry W. Housley formerly of ST. Helens, Oregon

Bob, was a great teacher, clinician, husband, and father. Bob was my mentor. I am who I am , today, because of him. Robert W. Blakeley was MY Uncle Bob. With loving Respect. Dan O'Hara, East Lansing ,MI

Bob was an incredibly knowledgeable advocate, diagnostician, therapist and mentor for his clients, their families and professionals in the speech/language pathology field. He was highly respected and his influence was significant.
Vicci Martinazzi, retired SLP, Portland Public Schools.

Our family was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Blakeley's passing. We met Dr. Blakeley through the Kaiser cleft palate team when our son Chris was born with a cleft.

We will always remember his bright smiling face and warm friendly manner, with us and our son. Chris always said that Dr. Blakeley was his favorite doctor because he always made him laugh.

His warm smile and kind heart will forever be how we remember him.

Mark, Jean, and Christopher Schoonover
