Robert H. Bloom

I was an account exexutive at Bloom during 1963-65. About 3 a.m. on December 19, 1964, Neiman Marcus downtown was on fire. Stanley Marcus called Bob. Bob called me and within 20 minutes we were meeting with Mr. Stanley in the employee entrance as firemen were dragging hoses from there to the upper floors. Robert took great delight in finding special estate jewelry items for his beloved wife Harvi, and often shopped with me at Macklowe Gallery. I am forever in his debt for explaining to me that I had to put my clients at the center of my business practice, to make "hugging my customers" the goal of every step forward. He was my cousin -- son of my mom's sister -- and he and his dad Sam launched me on my advertising career, for which I am eternally thankful. REST IN peace, cousin Bob.
