Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapels - Robbinsdale Chapel Obituary

Bob’s life was filled with many adventures including being an Eagle Scout, attending MSU, serving as an aviation officer in the Navy, skydiving, hot air ballooning, running and inline skating marathons, biking, traveling the world and loving his family, church, and community.

Bob was an accomplished businessman working in the field of packaging engineering.  He was a member of ASTM International and the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP).  His latest adventure was seeking treatment for his myelodysplastic syndrome.

Special thanks to Dr. Zylla and ALL the staff at PNMC, Dr. Warlick and ALL the staff at U of M Health.  God bless you!

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughters, Katy (Beau) Hammel and Christa (Drew) Engquist; grandson, Forrest Hammel; brothers, Larry (JoAnn) and Grant (Jenny) Fiedler; many loving family and friends.  Special thanks to Larry and Grant and their wives for stepping up without hesitation to make a bone marrow transplant an option for Bob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenora and Ed Fiedler.

Bob felt gratitude for the life God gave him and we are grateful for the years he spent with us.

Not sure what to say?

I skydived with Bob at the St. Croix Valley Skydivers in Osceola. He introduced me to formation skydiving, something I fell in love with instantly. Many years later I still jump and organize skydives for newer jumpers, showing them the joy of freefalling with friends. Bob led the club in good directions. I am glad that I was able to spend some time with him a couple of years ago when he showed up at the drop zone in Winsted.

I have known Bob most of my career in packaging, and enjoyed talking with him at IoPP meetings. It was always an interesting conversation, he was so kind and funny too. Bob will be missed in the packaging community, and by his fellow Spartans.

My sympathies to his family, I share in your sorrow.

One of the truly nicest skydivers I have ever known. My mother Beve spoke highly of him.
