Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home - Sebring Obituary

Robert Daniel Hall of Old Forge, NY and Lake Placid, FL passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from natural causes with his loving wife Annie Dunn Hall by his side.  Bob was predeceased by his mother Ethel Clemmons Hall, Father John Scott Hall, sister Mary Alice, Brother Wilfred and son Dan W. Hall.  Born March 18, 1930 in Inlet, NY, Bob spent his entire life serving his greatest loves: God, Family, and the Adirondacks of New York State.  After Bob attended grade school in Inlet, NY and was graduated from the town of Webb School in Old Forge, NY as class president in 1948, he joined the US Air Force and served in the Korean War stationed in Japan.  Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to upstate New York to take a job with General Motors, renew his education at CCBI, get married and start a family living in Whitesboro, NY.  Bob then began pursuing his true calling serving his beloved Adirondacks.  Beginning with being a member of Old Forge’s McCauley Mountain Ski Patrol and presiding over the creation and inception of the Polar Bear Ski Club, Bob in typical fashion later rose to the role of chairman of the Eastern Division of the National Ski Patrol which spans from Alabama to Maine.  In 1970 Bob left GMAC after 17 years and took the jobs of Old Forge Publicity Director and Executive Director of the Central Adirondack Association (CAA) until he retired in 1995.  It was in those dual roles that Bob touched so many lives.  Always seeking to engage people and introduce them to the great outdoors.  Bob used his unique gifts of administration, creativity, and humor to blend a diverse group of outdoorsmen, athletes, musicians, and many more to create a vast list of Adirondack events and clubs that exist to this day.  Mr. Snodeo is the name that Bob received in 1973 after creating “a rodeo without horses” to lure more snowmobiles to Old Forge, NY.  Never one to be much for credit due, Bob was always quick to mention Dave Hollister, Ted Harwood, Don Lawson, and many other local enthusiasts who worked so hard to make Old Forge a snowmobile capital.  Among some of Bob Hall’s other accomplishments include co-starting and promoting such events as the Parade of Bands, the Baton Twirling Completion, the Frog Jumping Contest, the Car Show, The Fox Family Bluegrass Festival, the SnoCross Races and the 90-mile Canoe Race.  In addition, Bob initiated and administered the Health Insurance Program for the CAA.  All of which culminated in Bob being named “Mr. Adirondack” in 1995 as well as being awarded an Honorary Member Award by the CAA in 2010.  Always a humble man who loved a good laugh, among Bob’s favorite memories were Chief Dennis’ Snodeo Snow Dance the year the event was held with no snow, and his life-long friend Dick Birds’ notorious water skiing antics (Dick water skied every month of the year) for which Bob was often a silent but most willing accomplice.  Finally Bob was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his family, daughter Melissa (Tim), sons Rick (Brenda) and Dan, Grandchildren  Heather, Cindy and Dustin Hall; JJ, Arnesia, Sterling, Debra, Shawn, Allen, Louise, Aaron, Anastasia, Frankie, Riley (Smiley), John, Terricka, Shakiah, Andrew and Tyron Glisson, Step-daughters Diane Dunn Ritz (Steve) Laurie Dunn Baumbach (Phil), Barbara Dunn, and step sons Tom Dunn, Jim Dunn (Pat), and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
