Mountain View Funeral Home Obituary

Robert (Bob) Tilden of Blairsville, Georgia passed away at home  on Tuesday, April 26th. Bob was  born in St. Louis, Missouri  on October  2nd, 1938. His family moved to Miami, Florida, where  he grew up.

Bob worked  on many  hot rods and even  built his own swamp buggy  for use  in the Florida  Everglades. He loved  the Glades and spent as much  time as he could there camping, hunting and raising  his family.

He retired from the Dade  County School System, where he worked  as a block mason before moving  to the North Georgia Mountains.  He then started Bob’s  Stump Grinding  with his wife, Cecelia. It was  the first of its kind in Union county. He was  a Civil War buff and also  loved metal detecting, and his cats.

He was  devoted to his family, that eventually followed him to Blairsville. Bob is survived by his forever loving wife of 63 years; Cecelia, their two daughters; Linda Tilden and Katherine Stonis Maas, three granddaughters; Lisa  Stonis, Jessica Stonis Gutierrez and Rebecca Stonis Walker, eight great-grandchildren, and three nieces.

Bob was  preceded in death by his loving parents; William Tilden, Sr. and Josephine Huff Tilden, his siblings; Jean  Hall Bradfisch, William Tilden, Jr. and Thomas Tilden.

He was  greatly loved  by his family and will be missed everyday.

In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Cast Off Pet Rescue in Bob’s memory.

Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements. You may sign the family guest book and send condolences on line at www.mountainviewfuneralhome.com

Not sure what to say?

Cecelia: I just learned about Bob's passing. I am so, so sorry. He will be greatly missed!! I have such great memories of the four of us working together and Bob's great sense of humour. You two were the best friends anyone could every want!! My deepest sympathies to the girls and families! Love and hugs to you , Mary

Bob was one of the good ones. A wonderful person. We always enjoyed visiting with Bob, his wife and any of the other people gathered around him. He was warm and friendly, interesting and always kind. The world will miss him. It was our pleasure to know him and spend time with him and CeCe. He will be greatly missed.

Me and Gramps

So many memories begin with you. All the summers Lisa and I were able to spend with you and grandma, are something we will always cherish. Going to the river, watching you metal detect, teaching us how to pan for gold, helping you run the antique store at the flea market, rolling around in the bed of the truck as you drove through the mountains, ( the kids still can't believe that one), and so many more. You were the foundation of this family. Always making sure your girls were ok and taken...

Daddy & his stump grinder.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
