Robert "Bobby" Joseph Gaffney

Robert "Bobby" Joseph Gaffney, 55, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2014 in Austin, Texas. A loving and joyful husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godfather, friend and colleague – he is already deeply missed. Cherishing Bobby's memory and mourning his passing are his wife Peggy, children Lauren, Casey and Noni, parents Jean and Ray Nelson, sisters Leslie and Loren, niece Lindsey, godson and nephew Caden, brothers-in-law Russell and Eric and many, many loved ones. Bobby was born in Houston, Texas on May 31, 1958 and lived most of his life in Texas. A curious, artistic child, he truly enjoyed reading, drawing, painting and history. Bobby was an eager learner and began reading at a very early age. This led to a life-long passion of devouring world history books. He often said he wished he would have been a college professor teaching history. Being a world history buff and working for global companies, Bobby traveled abroad quite a bit, and was able to see many of the locales he had read about in his books. Professionally, Bobby was a tech guru before most people even knew what computers were. Colleagues have called him a "genius" who had great intellect and drive. Bobby's other passions included motorcycles, sports, camping, his pets, playing games and hanging out with friends and family. Houston Texans and the Houston Astros were his favorite teams. He thoroughly enjoyed riding his Harley through the magnificent Austin Hill Country. Liesl (his German Shepherd) and McLovin (his Bengal cat) always made Bobby smile. And what a wonderful smile he had! Bobby also loved walks on the beach and beautiful sunsets. A celebration of Bobby's life will be held Saturday, January 25th, 2:00pm at Weed-Corley-Fish (www.wcfish.com) at 1200 South Bagdad, Leander, Texas 78641.
