Robert L. Borland
Age 84, of Canton and formerly Malvern, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 in the Canton Christian Home. He was born May 16, 1932 in Carrollton to Lloyd and Helen (Robbins) Borland. He retired from Diebold in 1984 after working for 33 years and worked in law enforcement for over 20 years. He attended the North Industry Christian Church. He is a US Army Korean War Veteran and a member of the Carrollton VFW, Game Reserve Club, NRA, Brown Twp. Sportsman's Club, Alliance Rifle Club, and Stark Gun Collectors Inc. He was also the Sexton for Brown Township, for Bethlehem Cemetery retiring in 2001 and a former volunteer for the Malvern Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Klotz) Borland whom he married June 12, 1955, daughter, Kathy (Mike) Rutledge of Richville, son, Scott (Marcy) Borland of Malvern, 3 sisters, Mary (Harry) Hill of Carrollton, Alta Owens of Carrollton, Lois Jean (Ivan) Krimas of Dalton, 3 brothers, Roy (Lana) Borland of Massillon, Jay (Linda) Borland of Malvern, Donald (Helen) Borland of Dennison and 3 grandchildren, Ty Rutledge and fiance, Caroline of Miami, FL, Kyle Rutledge of Richville and Kayla Borland of Cincinnati, 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Borland of Louisville and Billie Borland of Freeport. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters, Ethel Stillion, Cindy Borland and an infant sister, and 3 brothers, James and Frank Borland and an infant brother.
Following cremation, a memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm in the North Industry Christian Church with Mr. Steve Kimbrel, Mr. Jeff Franks and Mr. Ron Iwanusa officiating. Calling hours will be 2 hours prior to services from 1-3 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Industry Christian Church or the Canton Christian Home.
