O'Brien Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services - South Hadley Obituary

Robert A. Borucki, 75, passed away on Friday March 3rd, 2023. Bob was born in Holyoke, son of the late Viola (Mul) and Edward F. Borucki Sr. The family moved to Southampton in 1949 where Bob grew up among his six brothers in a peaceful rural environment. It was during his youth that Bob developed a love of gardening on his grandparents’ adjacent farm property and while working at a local vegetable farm. He was intellectually gifted and an avid reader.  He majored in History at Boston College (Cum Laude, Class of 1970). His career plans to attend graduate school on a well-deserved scholarship were derailed as he had lost his student deferment and was drafted. Values driven and with the support of the distinguished Frances Crowe, Bob obtained conscientious objector status, and fulfilled his obligations through work at regional state hospitals. He subsequently worked at the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind and later partnered in a venture to launch a used furniture store in Cambridge. Despite the significant challenges that he endured, he led an adventurous and colorful life in his own unique way. Having keen knowledge of history and a very good memory, he was a formidable opponent in games of Trivial Pursuit! He was witty, a good conversationalist, had a wry sense of humor, and will be dearly missed.  Bob is predeceased by his parents and his older brother, Edward Borucki Jr. He leaves his brothers, Stephen, Chester and Peter of Southampton, Walter (Kim) of Holyoke, and Paul (Tomoyo) of Rocky Hill, CT; his sister-in-law Marcia Borucki of Meridianville, Alabama, his nephews and niece, Neil, Aaron, Ethan, Koichi, and Aya.  Bob’s family would like to thank the staff at CHD, especially Alden House, for their care for Bob, and the staff at Baystate Medical Center for their comfort in his last hours. Services for Bob will be held at a later date. For more information, please visit obrienfamilyfh.com.

Not sure what to say?

Chet and Family, Our condolences to your family on the loss of another brother. Dan & Donna O'Brien

I remember Bobby. And the rest of the brothers. Bobby was gifted and enjoyed his company. When my father was going to night school to get his MBA Bobby was very interested and even helped my father with some of his calculations math equations. The whole family has a past history to Southampton MA.Mr.Borucki was a proud Pearl Harbor veteran. Bobby will be missed. But his legacy lives on in are spirits and thoughts. God bless

To all of my dear cousins, my husband Bob and our children all are wishing deep condolences. We took care of Bobbie quite often, and he always had a kind word to say. He will be missed dearly. Much Love, Bob, Cindy and Crosby family.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a good man with a big heart, into which he welcomed those less fortunate. We shall hold him in the light Susan and Larry Levitt
