Read MoreI grew up across the alley from the Bourbeaus and Bob was instrumental in getting me interested and prepared to play B Squad football for St Als as a 3rd grader in 1955. That experience led me to my lifelong interest and participation in sports and I am extremely greatful for that. We grew up in a wonderful neighborhood with great role models.

A superb athlete to the end. An All-City quarterback for Gonzaga High School, Bob would walk from his home in the Logan neighborhood through downtown Spokane and up the south hill to distant Comstock Pool on summer days, then walk back to get in shape and stay in shape for a coming season. He was held in awe by every athlete and would-be athlete in the city. He could also tell you the batting average of any major league player you cared to mention.
