Not sure what to say?

I respected Dr. Boutilier as my earth science teacher at BSU during my graduate studies (1972-1976). I reconnected with Dr. Boutilier in 2002 while attending a Massachusetts Department of Education meeting in Plymouth, MA. I remember this meeting 22 years later because Dr. Boutilier approached me and said he had been following my career since 1976. Though I am certainly not a "special" former student, Dr. Boutilier´s comment illustrates how he cared for, and followed, his students, Rest...

I was a student of Dr. Boutilier´s and I am very thankful to him for helping me finish my degree. I was a working Mom and could not always work my schedule around when a required class was offered. Dr. Boutilier helped me by teaching me the class independently. He cared and for this I am forever grateful. Vicki McPherson

I was Earth Science major in the early 1980s at BSC and took Mineralogy with Dr. Boutilier. He was a remarkable professor, working his students hard but doing so with almost parental concern that you actually learned what he was teaching. His teaching style and attention to his students motivated me. All these years later Dr. Boutilier’s name still comes up in conversation among my friends that also had him as a professor. He won’t be forgotten.

Dr. Boutilier was the best professor I ever had. He had a knack for teaching complex subjects in a way that you could understand. One of my favorite classes was his Optical Mineralogy class. I'm sure many of his former students feel the same way. Rest in Peace "Boots!"
