Adobe Creek Funeral Home - Petaluma Obituary

Rob passed away suddenly at his home on April 16th at the age of 50.  He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Karen, his son Daniel, daughter Emily, mother Marie McCarthy and brothers, Pete and Todd. His father, Peter Brockman, precedes him in death.

He was born in San Francisco on August 9, 1963 and raised in Greenbrae, CA where he attended elementary school in the Kentfield District and graduated from Redwood High School and College of Marin.  He went on to graduate with a degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1988.

In his younger years he often played on sports teams with his two brothers because they all were so close in age. At the College of Marin, Rob was the captain of the soccer team, leading the team in many winning games as goalie.   He was an outstanding student and was a recipient of the National Merit Award.  It was at Cal Poly where he met the love of his life, Karen Rossi and they soon married after their graduations.  They first lived in Marin County and for the past 20 years have resided in Petaluma, CA.

Rob lived life to its fullest ...as a loving husband and father, and in his work and community.  He always made sure that his family came first.  In his work, his creativity, artistry and vision are evident throughout the West Coast and his designs have been recognized nationally.  Rob was an artist, a musician and songwriter and was collaborating with his daughter Emily on her new album. Rob coached numerous boys and girls soccer teams, both recreational and competitive traveling teams. Along with being a coach, Rob was a mentor, a confidant and a friend to all he met.

Rob was happiest when he was spending time with his family, either on a sunny beach or in the clean air of Lake Tahoe. The world was a better place as a result of Rob Brockman... he will be greatly missed!

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 24th at 1pm at the 360 Church of Petaluma, 879 Linberg Ln., Petaluma with a reception immediately to follow at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Building, 1094 Petaluma Blvd S Petaluma, CA 94952. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Emily and Daniel Brockman Education Account #1544428491 c/o Wells Fargo Bank. Online condolences may be made at adobecreekfuneralhome.com

Not sure what to say?

To the family that has sen me through so much
my deepest sympathies for your loss.I remain your good friend and Auntie Vicki Newcomb Bohlke

Dear Karen and family,

We haven't met but we knew Robert well. He did the landscape design on our home in Mill Valley a number of years ago. We were deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

Robert redesigned our entire back yard. Every time we are in the garden, we enjoy the beauty he so abundantly created. I smile when I remember Robert's creativity, his practical nature, his helpfulness, his sense of humor, and, most of all, his decency and kindness to everyone...

I am shocked this morning to learn of Rob's passing in April. He coached my son Eli for many years in soccer and had an enormously positive influence on him. My heart goes out to you Karen and the kids. May you find strength in Rob's memory.
Fondly,
Karen Hudson -Asay

Karen,

I am so saddened when I heard of the passing of Rob. I met him in the mid 1990's working in the same office in Larkspur when he shared office space with Steve Murch. Before we had all had kids, I enjoyed playing golf with him many times on Fridays before work. We also went on a few mountain bike rides together. Throughout the years we worked on many projects together collaborating on residential projects.

Rob was always a pleasure to be around. I was constantly...

Dear Karen, Emily, Daniel and family,
Our heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. We were very touched by Rob's memorial and feel we got to know him better after hearing stories from his loved ones. We were especially moved to read the poem he had written, because the night before the memorial, we were in Marshall, which I know is a favorite area for him, and we saw a beautiful prism in the sky. A beautiful sunset for an amazing man. He will be missed. Love to you all.

Dear The Brockman Family,
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Although I only met Rob once (at a soccer game, of course)I have heard amazing and wonderful stories about him. Thinking of you Peter, Todd, Mrs. Brockman and family.
Our condolences,
Caren Choppelas-Horstmeyer and family

The Weingart family sends our condolences. We are very saddened be this news and wish you all the best. Family is everything and we hope you can lean on each other during this brutal time.
