Robert Edward Bryant

BRYANT Robert Edward Bryant April 20, 1960 - November 3, 2012 Robert E. Bryant, 52, of New Orleans, passed away on November 3, 2012 at the Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington, LA. He departed this world after having fought a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer. Robert attended the Chamberlain-Hunt Academy of Mississippi where he excelled in history, chemistry, mathematics and accounting. He was a gifted baseball player in high school and remained an avid fan of America's favorite pastime even through his latter days. He was a native of New Orleans and an advocate for supporting the local economy. He was fiercely dedicated to the community of Uptown New Orleans, where he resided for most of his adult life. Robert always considered this neighborhood to be his refuge and of great comfort. He fully embraced the culinary delights of the region and loved the Crescent City's prized dishes, particularly shrimp pasta. Though he suffered a devastating car accident at age 17, Robert never allowed his physical limitations to be a burden; he lived life to the fullest and steadfastly adhered to a code of self-sufficiency and independence. We will always remember his generosity; how he smiled with his eyes and gave you his distinctive half grin. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Consuelo Bryant. Robert is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Randall Bush; his niece, Nicole Szyller; his grandnieces, Sarina and Briana Mathieu; his grandnephew, Jason Mathieu; and numerous cousins. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all those who selflessly gave their love, support, care and prayers through the years: in particular, the families of George and Mary Marti, Nicole Szyller and Jennifer White, Tony and Vicki Kirschner, Jan and Evelyn Lloyd, John Schexnayder, Philip and Denise Bahr, Gerald and Olga Bush, Elder Sun and Elder Gilbert, and Chaplain Wayne Grant. Special thanks is also extended to the staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home of Covington and Ameracare Family Hospice, whose extraordinary care, skill, compassion and thoughtfulness has touched our hearts so deeply that we shall remain eternally grateful. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11:00 am.
