Robert was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on July 13, 1935, the son of the late John and Evelyn Budzynski. On August 13, 1994, he married Beverly Ann Page.

An amazing gentleman, Bob was a champion in music, bowling, golf and dance.

Bob learned to play the accordion and won a music scholarship to the University of Houston where he received a Masters in music and business.

During college he taught at Fred Astaire dance studios and won a prize for enrolling the most new students. He was given a new car and the dance studio in Flint Michigan.

After having a very successful career as dance teacher, Bob opened a music store and offered lessons. His students were placed in orchestra seats and tuning. 60 students went to New York to play for the United Nations. They were so impressed that they were invited to go to Europe on a goodwill tour. Unfortunately the revolution in Hungary canceled the tour.

When Bob met Beverly, they formed a dance partnership, and began to compete and teach at Grand Blanc Community Education. They won many trophies including the American Swing Dance Championship. They were inducted into the Walk of Legends, and into Living Legends.

Bob wanted to introduce West Coast swing to Michigan dancers and in 1992 he hosted the first Michigan swing dance championship. It later became the Michigan Classics.

Bob and Beverly published a magazine called Jitterbug, and appeared on Club Dance TV, doing two spotlight dances. They won two Feather awards for being the best swing dance couple over 50 in the world.

Bob competed in Danceport in the Michigan Senior Olympics and worked for several years raising funds for a local charity called Grand Blanc Dancing With The Stars.

Bob had a great love for people and he took many golfers to Myrtle Beach for 57 straight years and many dance events.

Not sure what to say?

I´m sad to just now be seeing this, a year after his passing. Mr. Budzynski lived down the street in Flint MI when I was a child, his oldest son, my childhood sweetheart, visiting during the summertime. It was over 50 years ago, but I have very fond memories of his warmth and of his mischievous smile (and that great big Cadillac! ) My warmest condolences to his loved ones and all who mourn his loss.

Beverly, our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Bob was a gifted entrepreneur, a loving husband and father, and a dear man. I was hired last February to work as Bob's caregiver and we became fast friends. Over the next eight months, I watched, inspired, as he lived every single day to the fullest and faced each health challenge as if it were just another of the many obstacles he'd overcome during his successful career. I've never seen anyone fight harder than he did. All my love goes out to Beverly, Jim, Robert, Paul, and the rest of his...

I cherish the memories I have had with Bob and Beverly for these past 20+ years. There are few people whose joy of dancing and life is so apparent. Be it a straight long drive down the fairway, teaching my daughter and her fiance Zach West Coast swing, spending Memorial weekends at Boyne Highlands dancing and golfing, holiday parties with the swing and hustle gang in their home dance studio, watching him pro/am in the Michigan Senior Olympics, trying out new dance tricks with him, helping him...

I'll miss Bob. He didn't know me very well, but whenever he saw me it felt like I was seeing an old friend again. Bob helped me to become a better dancer. He'll be remembered as a truly good man.

Beverly, I am so saddened to hear of Bob passing. My heart is breaking. We had so much fun taking lessons with you two, traveling to conventions, attending your great parties, just to name a few of the fun times we shared. He was a true gentleman through and through and will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with you today.

We were saddened by the news of Bob’s passing. He was such a wonderful man! Kind, caringsuch an elegant gentleman! Our hearts are heavy. We will miss him. Please know, Beverly, that you are loved and in our prayers.
