Robert and my dad was cousins on the Ling side. My dad Maurice, who died in 2002, told me many stories of those two as kids - mostly of their shenanigans during church. Mmy husband, Jimmy Weekley, deceased April 3, 2018, was a first cousin to Robert. In our younger years we were included with them for family events and sometimes socially. Robert and Norma were outstanding in all they were involved, whether it was their Church, their family and as leaders in their School administration. I went to Ensley High School with Robert and knew him before then because my family used his parents' Dry Cleaners. He was always so friendly, kind and unassuming. He truly lived his faith and impacted many lives. Our world is better because he was in it. My condolences to the family for your loss and thankfulness for the legacy that he left to each of you.

Robert Bumpus was the best educator with whom I ever worked. His patience with and deep understanding of people were unmatched. Mr Bumpus always reminded us to visualize issues from others viewpoint and meet in the middle. Thank you for your lifelong journey to make us all better humans.

I did not like to hear about Robert's passing, but he is with his Savior and his precious wife Norma. My condolences to all his family. He was truly a man of God. I knew Robert from childhood.
