Not sure what to say?

That man touched my life, profoundly in just a single semester. I was in his class when my grandmother died. She was my first loss. His kindness and empathy were immeasurable. When he spoke to me about it, there was a loving sadness in his eyes. When I asked him why he was so kind to me, he simply said: "You remind me of my son." I remember the softness and the tenderness in his voice and how he spoke. It was like feeling waves of goodness washing over you. What an incredible human being he was.

I did not know Dr. Robert Bunger well, but when he spoke at my church about his faith tradition, I was amazed at the depth of his knowledge and understanding. We all leaned so much from him. He is missed.

This world has lost a beautiful soul. We loved Bob (Dr. Bunger). We were always happy to see his and Li's smiling faces at our shop. He was always full of fun information and loved to share it with us. He was one of the kindest and coolest humans we have ever met. We know he will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Our hearts go out to Li...they were like peas in a pod, you never saw one without the other. We are sending love and hugs through the universe to his friends...

Dr.Bunger was my favorite professor back in the 1970s. I read his doctoral dissertation wanting to learn more about the Upper Pokomo! Who but Dr. Bunger had a collection of shrunken heads?! He was a fascinating story teller and a kind and gentle person. I was delighted when years later my daughter also enjoyed his class. I am so sorry for your loss.

Bob Bunger was one of the first teachers I encountered as a student at ECU. He was also one of my very favorite teachers. My husband Mickey and I went onto become lifelong good friends with Bob and Li through the Greenville Collectors Club. Bob was a gentle soul and always a pleasure to be with. Mickey and I feel privileged to have experienced his friendship. Love, Martha
