Not sure what to say?

So many years have passed and yet.... So many good memories reflected in the comments offered by others. What a good man ! !

The coolest thing happened this morning as I was coming back from dropping my granddaughter Caeley off at preschool. In the sky right in front of me was a rainbow-- at 7:45 in the morning-- As I headed back to town and turned on to Michigan Ave it was still in front of me and it dawned on me that it was from Uncle Bob-Didn't have my cell on and wanted to tell Dad to look out to see if he could see it cuz I figured by the time I got there it would be gone-- and maybe they weren't even up yet...

Ditto to Steve. I was just rereading that email he always sent. I'm in for that.
We miss you, Pop. Happy 80th. I'm going to try to find a Coney dog somewhere in Chicago today. Wish we could just run over to Tommy's where Will would be saving you a seat. Love, Laurie

The 80th anniversary of Bob's birth is tomorrow (March 11).

I miss his e-mails. In particular, I recall how each year on the date of his mom's birthday ( Grandma Shirley), he'd send some of us a reminder of that date. He would also recall something gentle or generous about her. To honor her Bob would suggest that we do something kind for someone on that day. I think he took great comfort in knowing ...

Just had to write to say I saw 12 Robins last Wed. FEBRUARY 23,2004-- and I stamped every one of them!!-and thought of Uncle Bob - and Grandma Shirley of course. Am thinking of him so much with his Birthday coming up in a couple of weeks -- His bringing my Mom - his Sister-in-law, Fran Burdick Daffodils in March to bring a little springtime a bit early to those last gray days of winter, or on a Lenten Saturday morning taking me to The Bak-a-teria to pick out donuts to take home for my...

The main things I remember about Mr. Burdick were his warm, friendly manner and of course, his sense of humor! I knew him best, however, through the eyes of his daughter, Sarah. She spoke so highly of him and told many stories that endeared him to anyone who was listening. And in ways I believed that I knew him well, because I always thought she must be like him. Any time I was around Mr. and Mrs. Burdick they were always so welcoming and fun to be around. They shared their home on the lake...

The world has lost a great man in Bob Burdick.
It was a privilege for me to know him as briefly as I did in my early years when visiting Grandpa and Grandma Burdick (Larry and Thelma).
Peace be to his memory.

It seems the time around Dad’s death was surrounded by siblings looking for special signs of comfort, spirituality, or maybe confirmation of eternal life. I do not think I experienced any of those ‘signs’. My feelings weren’t anywhere, others were feeling and dealing with this in their way and I chose to step back from it all. A minor curse of being seven of seven, the last-how can one possibly have a unique experience when it has all been felt or shared by others.
