Not sure what to say?

I was so sad to hear of Bob´s death. He and Helen were close friends of my parents and the "favorite friends" of my sister and me. He always had interesting things to talk about, and was adept at adjusting his conversation to an appropriate level for his audience. I think of him often. Wishing his family the comfort that comes from cherished memories.

Bob Buttel was a very friendly, kind advisor to Temple University graduate assistants back in 1963. Everyone could learn from him and appreciate his kindness.

I have warm memories of Bob and Helen when they were colleagues of my husband at Beaver College/ Arcadia university. We lost touch as we moved in different ways, but I have thought about them. I am sad to say farewell. Adele Gray

Bob was a man of striking character and charm, a great colleague and a face Nora and I were always delighted to meet on the street. We wish we had seen more of him.

I am so sorry to learn of this. Bob was such a warm and kind and generous man and a brilliant interpreter of poetry. I treasure my relationship with him and with Helen. He has been as close to me in spirit as has Wallace Stevens, two presences that have had a great impact on my life.
