Robert Caldwell Obituary

Robert Walter Caldwell

Robert Walter Caldwell, age 52, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the morning of November 4th, 2014. Robert was born August 4th, 1962 in Fayetteville, NC the son to Richard M. Caldwell and Helga U. Caldwell. At the age of three the family moved to Seattle, making the greater Puget Sound area his home until his passing. As a boy he attended Frank B Cooper Elementary, Louise Boren Junior High, and West Seattle High School. Robert played fast pitch baseball in his youth as his teams Pitcher, taking pride in every ball he threw across home plate. Roberts hobbies included drawing and playing golf. Robert loved football and was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan since the time he could walk. He always wished he could have seen them win a Super Bowl before he passed. Approximately 20 years ago, Robert was diagnosed with a rare disease called "Wegeners Granlomatosis" which over time damaged internal organs. In Roberts case the disease damaged his kidneys and led to complete kidney failure. Robert was a tough and courageous man over his 20 year battle. He endured a failed kidney transplant from his older brother Richard, 17 years of dialysis, and numerous medical procedures that also failed. He never entertained the thought of giving up but faced his battles with his head up and determined to win. In the month of October 2014, Robert was given the news that would result in his last battle. He could prolong his life but at the sacrifice of any remaining comfort and the continued emotional hardship of his family. At that moment Robert had to make one of life's hardest decisions-- to stop. By deciding to end treatment, he in effect, chose his day of death, asked his family to cherish his memories, and told us he would always love us.

Robert is survived by his five children: Robbie, Josh, Tiffany, Jason, and Jonni. Above all else he found joy and happiness in the time spent with his children. He is also survived by his mother Helga and brothers & sisters: Tammy, Richard, Gordon, Tina, Glen, and Kelly. May God always watch over our Son, Father, and Brother from now until Eternity.

Rest in Peace

Robert Walter Caldwell.

I know you're in Heaven with my Mom probably sharing stories about the youngsters running around on Delridge back in our day - I'll see you when I get there

I would like to personally thank all of you that shared in my little brother Robert Caldwell's celebration of life service and reception today. Truly felt the love and appreciation for Robert and the ways he touched each of us in his separate way. For the people who couldn't attend, but shared in spirit. Today's celebration was a good one for all who shared memories as well as attended. This afternoon will be etched into all our minds forever. Way to represent what it means to be family and celebrate someone's life , very proud day for me.

Well Robert,.. although I have known you since you were a little boy,... I never had the chance to really know you.
However,... that will hopefully change in a while when I come to live beside you!
There are "SO" many here that are,.. and will,..."miss" and "Love" you!
"See Ya Later", okay?

It has been a while since I have run into Rob but I will miss his stories and jokes. I'll always picture him with his hoarse chuckle as he tossed his head back slightly. Rob, I hope that you are enjoying being free of suffering. Rest in peace old friend.

Although it may seem hard right now, it will be memories of the little things that help to soften a little the pain and bring the smiles back.
