Not sure what to say?

Bob Carlisle taught & led the Languages Dept @ San Jose High School in the late 50's to mid 60's. He was a wonderful Spanish teacher & his students never forgot him. When my Class of '63 celebrated our 40 yr reunion in 2003 @ Lou's Village, we invited faculty from 'back in the day' & 14 wonderful teachers/coaches attended, including Bob. For the last 20 yrs I've organized luncheons for our class, & Bob & Doris have attended many of them. So special to call Bob a friend. I last spoke on the...

I had Mr Carlisle from 1977 to 1979 for French, German and Italian, and I've never forgotten him. He was a wonderful teacher, but also such a nice and interesting man. I remember him telling me of a play he was involved in that was being staged in French at Villa Montalvo - something from the 17th century, I can't remember now. And as he was a huge opera fan, he loaned me his 'Turandot' and 'Dreigroschenoper' record sets one Christmas vacation, and I listened for two weeks. I had often...

I'm sad to hear of the passing of one of my favorite teachers of all time. I remember 3 years of French with M.Carlisle as a kind, patient man with a witty sense of humor, a great smile and a perfectly styled cravat. 37years later, every time I speak French, I think of you and thank you for sharing your craft. Repose en paix Monsieur. Dear Mrs.Carlisle, my sincere condolences

I'm sorry to read about the recent passing away of Mr. Robert (Bob) Carlisle. I remember him from Willow Glen High School in San Jose, CA in the past. I send my condolences to his wife and to the family.

Doris, I have thought so many times about Mr. Carlisle and how much he taught me. I am sorry that I did not communicate it to him but wanted your family to know. His was my favorite class always and what he taught me in learning to speak French, changed my life and brought me great joy. God bless and help you after your loss.

I had Mr Carlisle for Spanish as a sophomore I believe. I struggled in the class initially, but eventually ended up doing well. He started talking about food and travel and it made the language more interesting. I remember him flagging me down in the hall between classes to tell me I got my first A on a quiz. He seemed so shocked. I graduated WG class of 1981. Scott Johnston

I spent many years learning German and Italian sitting in the front row of Mr. Carlisle´s classroom at Willow Glen. He was a great person and a great teacher!

Robert was one of the kindest, intelligent, talented and generous human I've had the pleasure of knowing. Robert was a member of the Stroke Center (SDLC) choir for many years, and was my go-to for any questions about singing in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. A highlight of his singing with the choir was soloing on "Volare" in Italian. It brought the house down. We shall miss him very much, and sing a song in his honor at our next rehearsal. My condolences to the entire family. He was...
