My father served in the same 'hard luck' 492nd BG as Bob, and after his death 15 years ago, I decided to meet the veterans of that outfit, and was welcomed by this fine, kind, intelligent man as I began that research 'journey.' At first I had to be persuaded that he had actually been one of the WW II vets, rather than the son of one, because of his youthfulness and radiant energy. Bob was one of my best friends and I will miss him greatly. Our friendship started as students in 1946 at Univ. of Okla. when we shared duties with 2 other students on a geological field trip to the Crested Butte area of CO. We did most of the work; Bob did the mapping and I assembled the reports and typed them. Bob did an excellant job and was the reason we all got A's on the project.

I did not know this man, but my dad also served during WWII. He was 83rd Thunderbolt, 331st anti tank. Came in after the landings. God be with him and his family.

I had not seen Bob in 20 years. He was a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. Many fond memories.

I don't know Mr.Cash,but I was so touched by his story.My dad was in the invasion also,he passed away many years ago.We owe that generation so much for what we have today.You all must be so proud of him.
