Not sure what to say?

I just recently learned about Bob's passing, with great regret. I studied electronic music with him at NEC, 1983-85, and was inspired by his course, teaching, musical approach, and his humor. So mnay things I do today in music got their start from studying with Bob.

I will miss the music, which was wonderful.

Bob Ceely was kind and thoughtful teacher, and more than that, a real support to a young student composer. I truly appreciate his mentorship. He took a very independent approach and gave me free rein, except for once, when I proposed a piece for recorders: "why not write something for the viola, instead!!!". I am happy to have worked with tape splicing, modular synthesis, and early digital with him.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

One of my favorite and best teachers in my life. Knowing him really changed me all for the better. He will live on in his music and in the hearts and minds of his many friend and former students. My condolences to his family and Jonatha in particular.

We shall very much miss Bob's presence in exercise class, his wry sense of humor and his no-nonsense manner. Underneath all the bluster was a kind and generous spirit. Our thoughts will be with you, Jonatha.

Very fond memories of student days and beer in the backyard With Bob.
Love to Jonatha

Dear Bob - we enjoyed playing your music. Your passing will leave an empty space in our lives as we will very much miss speaking with you every week as we did for years. love to you from Buell and Margaret

Bob -your support and emboldened actions showed me there were always choices in the path I followed. Thank you for being a part of my life and I am forever grateful for the faith you had in me.
