Mr. C was so real. He accepted and enjoyed all of his students for who they were. He helped so many of us see things in ourselves we would never have appreciated without him. I'll always remember him for his humor and for treating us all as valued human beings.

I am sorry to here of Mr. C's passing. He taught me drama from 78-82. He was a great teacher and a wonderful man.

During the bleakest years of my life, Mr. C. made my life worth living by making me realize that I was worth something while at NEHI. He is a special man who will forever live in my heart. I send my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Bob was a long time customer and friend. He always brought a smile to my face when he walked through the door of my barber shop. His joy of life, talent and generosity of spirit will be missed in this community. Nelson, may the memories of many years shared be a band aid for your heart.

Truly a life well lived. Those of us who were privileged to be students in speech and drama at NEHI ('62-'64), will cherish the memories forever. Particularly the work and rewards of the arena productions. Mr. “C” was one of my favorite teachers. (My son is named after him.) He was a dear friend over the years and I will miss my Christmas and birthday notes. The world is a better place because he was here for 91 years. Be at peace Mr. “C”. Love and prayers to Nels.

Mr Challener was a gift to NEHI, in the late 60's, Mr. C. was able to see the gift in each student and gave us the praise we needed to feel confident. His speech and drama class at NEHI are one of my greatest memories.

Mr C was my public speaking teacher. I am so glad, so fortunate to have had that opportunity. He ranks very high on my all time teacher list. Pls take the time to tell your teachers and mentors how much they mean to you.
