George L Doherty Funeral Service, Inc - Somerville Obituary

Robert G. Chevrier- Of Medford, Bob to his family and friends, and affectionately known as Mr. Chev to his students and scouts, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2024. He was 66 years young. Born in Somerville, he was the beloved son of the late Clarence E. and Marilyn L. (Orrell) Chevrier.

Bob’s passion for learning and student development led him to a lifelong career in education, where he touched the lives of countless students, colleagues, and families throughout the Medford community.

After graduating from high school, Bob pursued higher education, earning a master's degree, and began his career as an elementary teacher at St. Raphael’s School, and then as a history teacher at Matignon. This is where he got the nickname Mr. Chev.  His deep commitment to his students and their growth soon led him to a leadership role as the dean of students. Mr. Chev's unwavering passion for education and his dedication to his students’ success allowed him to thrive in his career, making a lasting impact on the Matignon community.

Bob’s next great chapter came when he became the principal of St. Clement School in Medford. As principal for 16 years, he played a pivotal role in shaping the futures of young students, always fostering an environment of learning, growth, and compassion. He took immense pride in nurturing the potential of his students, helping to mold the brilliant leaders of tomorrow within the local and neighboring communities. Hi, Mr. Chev, was often heard as students and their family greeted him as he walked through the halls, or at school and sporting events.

Towards the end of his career, Bob took on the role of principal at St. Joseph School in Medford, where he continued to serve with the same passion and dedication that had defined his entire career.

Throughout his years as an educator, Bob was not only a leader but also a mentor, friend, and advocate for every student who crossed his path. His legacy will be carried on by the many lives he influenced, and he will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to education, his integrity, and his deep love and care for his students.

Beloved brother of Wayne Chevrier of Medford and Paul Chevrier and his wife Terry of Medford and HI. Devoted son of the late Clarence and Marilyn (Orrell) Chevrier. Prayers to his family

Dear Paul, Deepest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your brother Bob. I did not know Bob, but was aware of him as Principal at St Clements and St Joe's. In fact I used to see him many times out on High St welcoming the students to school in the morning. I can tell he was a special guy after reading all of these wonderful tributes. Cherish the memories! ~Dave Garrity

What great memories of taking his classes at Matignon High School class of 1986.
He was as a great teacher and always made it fun for us to learn. This is sad news. Wishing his family peace in knowing how many lives he had an impact on over the course of his teaching career. I will always remember him as one of my favorite teachers.

Thank you for welcoming at St Clement many years ago. We will always remember you.

Mr Chev was kind, helpful, encouraging and very supportive. I could not have asked for a better boss and colleague. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Mr Chev left an imprint in my career, gave excellent advice that I will take with me for a lifetime, and showed kindness to so many people. He was the leader of St. Clements for some of the worst situations and events I've seen as a teacher, and managed to do it with grace.

He will be missed for sure.

Uncle Bob was an amazing person. The world was a better place because of his presence. He will be missed but never forgotten.

So saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Chev. I was one of the lucky students that had him for a teacher at St. Raphael’s & Matignon. He was a kind and generous man and I feel lucky to have had him in my life.
