Robert Chidester Obituary

Robert "Bob" Kay Chidester, 80, of Edgewater and previously of Crofton, died of natural causes July 28 at Hart Heritage Estates in Forest Hill. Born July 15, 1933 in Richfield, UT, Bob earned a MA in Latin American Studies from UCLA in 1964 and was working towards his PhD in History. He was employed as an insurance agent at Prudential. Bob was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His hobbies included genealogy and teaching English as a Second Language. He enjoyed walking, reading and spending time with family. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Chidester, whom he married in 1967; and two brothers, Hugh and Howard Chidester. He is survived by his son, Lee Chidester of Portland, Oregon; three daughters, Ruth Maiorana of Street, Barbara Taylor of Martins-burg, WV, and Joan Craft of Warrenton, VA; sister, Linda Startup of Placentia, California; and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, August 3 at The Annapolis Ward of the Church of Latter Day Saints, 1875 Ritchie Hwy, Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's name can be made to Amedisys Hospice of Greater Chesapeake, 7106 Ridge Rd., Suite 100, Rosedale, MD 21237.
