Curran-Jones Funeral Home - Agawam Obituary

Robert “Bobbi Mango” Chmura, a 40-year resident of Agawam, MA and 44-year employee of Baystate Medical Center, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2023. Bobbi was a lifelong athlete. He religiously followed local college sports and attended Hartford Yard Goats games, once catching a home run ball. Bobbi was made famous on November 17, 2002, for his 180-yard hole in one on the 18th hole using a 9-wood at Agawam Municipal Golf Course.  Bob lived by the wise words of hero Mike Leach and was a super fan of both the NY Giants and free food. Most importantly, Bobbi Mango always had lots of kisses for all the little animals: Buffy, Oreo, Ruby, Lambic, Simba, Sukie, Sniffy, Caroline, Moose Patrick, and Shiloh. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor on April 15, 2023, at 10am at Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 224 Sheep Pasture Rd, Southwick, MA. A celebration brunch will be held at the Saybrook Point Inn at a later date. If you wish to attend, please email RSVP by June 14 to [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bobbi Mango’s name to the Niko Sierra Scholarship Fund. Checks can be mailed to “Paladin Wealth Partners, Attn: Alison Sierra, P.O. Box 15308, Tower Square, Springfield, MA 01115” or venmo @NSathleticscholarshipfund.

Not sure what to say?

I just found out today that Bob passed away. Been thinking about him a lot. He went to my sons baseball games. I k nope he making someone smiles in heaven . he such a great person. I'm so lucky to have my life he help my family so much. and he did so much for me. I will never forget him. i'm sure he's taking care of my mom and everybody that's the person he is. Everybody paid for it forward. if you can make someone smile, please do that's the type of person. Bobi was fabulous. Happy Fourth...

Rob is my 1st cousin and I spent a great deal of time with him growing up and in later life, at his childhood home in Springfield and at Bashan Lake, one of his favorite places. He was Best Man at my wedding. Robert will be greatly missed.

I knew Bobbi only briefly during my 5 years at Baystate but am a better person because of it. We worked in entirely different departments and had no reason to know each other. While most people sat in our department break room, I was always anxious to get outside into the fresh air and sun. Bobbi evidently did too (sleeves rolled up and all!) and it was outside on our lunch breaks that our friendship began. What a special person...I will never forget the time he showed up with a printed out...

I am so saddened to hear of this news. I worked with Bob for 18 years at Baystate. We loved to talk about the NY Giants as we ate both big fans. Rest in peace my friend. I will always think of you when I watch Big Blue play.

Bobbi Mango took care of me before at Baystate really nice man. Sorry for your loss.

I am a firm believer that we cross a person's path for a reason and if it is only for a brief moment , we can only hope we leave a smile in their heart. Bobbi you did just that, you have left a lasting smile in my heart and I will always cherish that. I remember one of my first days on the shuttle you sat next to me and introduced yourself as Bobbi Mango, when I asked about the name Mango, you told me "Yes, because it has a strong street presence!" You, Bobbi were the strong presence and you...

Bob was one of the most entertaining and positive friends I´ve known. His kindness was awesome. He was a great teacher, when I was a med tech intern; and a great friend ever since. We all lost someone very special. He could charm a bad day into something epic. Glad to have had the opportunity to know and work with such a sweetheart!

You couldn´t ask for a nicer and more caring person and fun to be with as well as hysterical Bobbi (three B´s and an I) Rest in Peace sweetie. Great memories Hugs Linda Klinger
