My condolences to the family. An incredibly well-read and erudite man who showed quiet kindnesses to many without any kind of flashy front. As an editor, but an engineer, I enjoyed his jovial put-downs of my confused English from my times on both sides of The Atlantic. A mighty life and my pleasure to have enjoyed just a little corner of it.
