We chose to showcase him as a pillar of the Irvine community, which he will always be. Bob was a gem of a man, an inspiration, and a friend. Bob showed infinite patience with whatever shenanigans I got up to, always bringing out the best in me, challenging me to always do better. I shall miss him dearly.

I am one of the many, many who count themselves lucky to have known and worked with Robert. On a fateful day at the end of my doctoral study, Robert asked me to help him with the latest edition of his magisterial textbook, Theatre; I helped with some edits and we hit it off.
