Adobe Creek Funeral Home - Petaluma Obituary

Robert Dennis Colbrook, 78, of Rohnert Park, CA passed peacefully with his family by his side on September 24, 2023. Bob was born on July 21, 1945, in Oak Park, Illinois to Robert and Lorraine Colbrook. He was the oldest of three children.  He is survived by his sister, Coleen, and preceded in death by his brother, Greg.

Bob married Diane MacGillivray in 1972 in Orlando, FL.  His legacy was the love that he had for his family. They raised three children: Kelly (Brian) Mason, Rob (Teressa), and Michelle (Wayne) Wilson. Moving from one end of the United States to the other, they ended up in Rohnert Park for the past 36 years. He was a very proud Grampa/Papa to six grandchildren: Tyler, Logan, Payton, Brooke, Layla, and Jacob.

He was a graduate of the then St. Procopius College, which is now known as Benedictine University, in Lisle, IL.  He began his career working first for Western Electric in Berwyn, IL and then for CNA Insurance. When no longer working for Western Electric, he lost his deferment and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 at the age of 24. He proudly served two years at Ft. Sheridan, IL. He worked for U.S. Insurance Group in Plano, TX in 1984 and then onto Fireman’s Fund Insurance in Novato, CA in 1987. In retirement, he worked for Korbel Champagne, which he always called his dream job.

Bob had a deep and unwavering faith in the Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Rohnert Park since 1987 where he served on the Building Committee, Parish Council, and as a Eucharistic Minister.

Bob loved to travel. The family reunions in Florida for over 30 years were some of his most treasured trips. Then began Lake Tahoe family gatherings in the summer and many trips to the Hawaiian Islands. Later, there were even more trips to Sea Ranch and his last trip to Las Vegas for his grandson's graduation this past May.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Rohnert Park with a reception immediately following in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
