Not sure what to say?

Just learned about Dr. Cole's passing today, though I've remembered him with great fondness and gratitude many times since graduation in 2004. He was pivotal in setting me on the path to the professional editorial career I currently enjoy, and like so many others, I owe a great deal to him for his guidance, knowledge, sense of humor, and patience. He was a blessing to all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed.

Bob literally started my career in journalism by tirelessly finding me paid writing jobs--from local weeklies to the Bucks County Courier. At the latter, the assignment was to write a review of a play opening in Philadelphia's Playhouse In The Park. When I told him I knew nothing about theater, he gave me a copy of a book, "How To Review A Play," and this advice: "Write about what you liked and what you didn't like. Be honest. Be on time. Make deadline. Don't embarrass us."

He was...

I only just found out about Dr. Cole's passing in the alumni magazine. I was in his first class back in the early 70's and clearly remember his humor, dedication and knowledge base about his subject matter. Not only did I enjoy his classes and took hem all, but he made me a better writer for which I can never thank him enough. I will always remember his portrayal of "The Ministers Black Veil." Such educators are never forgotten.

What a wonderful professor! I had a class with Dr. Cole in the early 70's. I always remembered Dr. Cole and that class. Funny, real, and inspirational! I was sad to hear that Dr. Cole had left us. My condolences to his family and friends.

There will never be another professor like Bob Cole. He was a tireless advocate for his students in many ways and an advocate for the faculty causes he championed. TSC and TCNJ will forever be indebted to a great man for founding their Journalism minor. I will always remember you, Bob!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I was in his first class at TCNJ. We went together to hear Ter Horst speak shortly after he resigned as Ford's press secretary. Bob was fearless in his quest for the truth and news and was an inspiration to many. So sorry to hear of his loss.

My sincere condolence to the Cole family for the loss of your beloved one. May the God of all comfort and peace strengthen you during this difficult time.

As one of those former students whose career in journalism was launched by the wise professor Cole, I'm grateful to him for his passion and honesty, and grateful to his family for sharing him with academia. He absolutely directed my path, and I still rely on his sound advice, which loops in my head as part of the soundtrack of my life. His influence will continue to resonate for years to come.
