Not sure what to say?

Dr. Robert Connamacher will always be someone I consider to be a true hero. I was a participant in the University of Pittsburgh Minority Premedical Students Summer Research Program during my college years. Dr. Connamacher worked tirelessly along with Dr. Carolyn Carter to help make this program a great success ! Because of this program I eventually became a medical doctor and practiced for more than a decade. I retired due to a health issue. I love the University of Pittsburgh and its...

Dr Robert Connamacher with his Jamaican family

I had the privilege of meeting Dr Robert Connamacher (Bob) just over 25 (twenty five) years ago when I traveled to Pittsburgh from Jamaica, with my 4 year old son Vaughn who was seeking a liver transplant at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We meet at the Pittsburgh Friends Meeting House one Sunday after service.
Bob opened his heart and house to us and offered us a place to stay while we waited for a suitable donor organ. A great friendship developed and a bond was...

My your eternal love and soul light the way for others.

I am heartbroken that he is gone. I can not form the words to express this. I will always hold a place in my heart for this truly great man.

My condolences to your family. Dr. Connamacher was a brilliant man. He influenced my life tremendously. Encouraged me to pursue Chemistry at Oberlin College and also medicine. Always a joy to converse and discuss numerous topics aside from medicine.
Its been many years since I saw him last, but he always has a special place in my heart.
Rest In Peace ... Truly a life well lived...

Thanks

I asked Dr. Bob to teach my gifted students at the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Charter School. He conducted "mini" Medical Explorers lessons in my classroom for six years. Some of my students joined him on Pitt's campus in his program. My students always enjoyed his visits. He was also a friend and I express my condolences to his family.

Prayerfully,
Dr. Ella M. Macklin

Our family had the privilege of being Bob's neighbor the past thirty five years. I personally enjoyed seeing him live out his passion for helping people and enjoying the gift of diversity. We shared a common love for the beauty of the valley we shared and stewarding its natural healing peace. Our family will be praying for the entire Connamacher family during this difficult time of grieving. He will be greatly missed. Pastor Ken Turnbull

Bob was a truly inspirational figure at the School of Medicine. I had the privilege to participate in some of his many career-building initiatives and to share an office with him briefly. He was a groundbreaking figure with the deepest confidence in and generosity toward the hundreds and hundreds whom he mentored. I cannot think of a kinder individual, a stronger advocate for diversity in medicine, or a more committed teacher. His joy in his mentees and his detailed knowledge of each...
