Angelus Funeral Home - San Antonio Obituary

Robert Almeida Contreras - family man, pursuer of faith, army veteran, and real estate mentor - joined the highest company of honors early Tuesday morning, January 11, 2022.

Born of Lubbock, Texas and now at rest at age 59, Robert graduated in 1980, from Fox Tech High School, where he was active as their school mascot, in their Science Club, in their Tech Little Theater, in their JROTC, and in their Upward Bound Program (a college program associated with St. Mary's University). Well known as “Bob,” he went on to enlist in the United States Army. During his time of service, he earned the friendship of many, the nickname of “Spanky,” and the respect and rank of a Sergeant. Following service, Bob attended San Antonio College and later blessed and inspired many in his 30+ year career in real estate - not only selling homes, himself, but guiding other agents in their real estate careers.

Bob accepted and loved all he encountered. He was extra fond of moments with family, movies of all shapes and forms, and taking time to reflect on what he was grateful for. A believer in community and works, Bob was an active member of St. Anthony de Padua ACTS, as well as an active participant of the Knights of Columbus St. Anthony de Padua Council #8738, Ministry of The Third Cross, and John 3:16 Ministries. He was regularly found volunteering, cooking for large groups, and making everyone feel appreciated.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Vickie Contreras, as well as his brother, Joe Contreras. He is survived by his former spouse, Rosa Linda Contreras; son, Steven Solis; daughter, Tiffany (Michael) Barquin; son, Carlos (Krystal) Contreras; grandchildren, Domynic Contreras, Steven Solis, Kaylen Solis, Alex Solis, Maverick Contreras, and Ava Contreras; sister, Sylvia (Brian) Schwartz; brother, Fred Contreras; sister, Maria Martinez; nephew, Michael (Jacqueline) Martinez; niece, Jacqueline (Sid) Barber; and nephew, Justin (Jovanna) Salinas. Bob cherished all his nieces and nephews (those of blood relation but also those of marriage) - many of whom would even recognize him as their second father.

“God is good all the time. All the time - God is good.”

We will forever remember and cherish our time with you –

we will stand stronger, knowing you are now watching over us

and always believing our hope is in Him alone.

My Sincerest Sympathy and deepest condolences to the Contreras family, we've lost a sincere friend & classmate, thank you Bob for being there for me when I needed comfort. God Bless your Soul you will be missed dearly.

I met Bob at his Real Estate office almost 25yrs ago. I learn so much from him. I always said he was my mentor, he used to love to teach. I will miss him. To all his family my condolences.

Rest In Peace Bob. Thank you for the good memories we all had with you.

Compadre Bob, longtime acquaintance with many fond memories. May you rest in power.

Our deepest condolences to the Contreras family. Our Compadre Bob was always loving and fun to be around. We enjoyed taking short trips between Christmas and New Years, he always wanted to do a quick get-a-way. His greatest treasure was God and family, always willing to help when needed. We will miss him dearly!!! "Rest in peace Compadre"

Bob was such a sweet man. I had the pleasure of meeting him through real estate. May he Rest In Peace.

Bob was a wonderful person. He accepted me as a member of the family and I am only the mother-in-law of his sister. He was a blessing to be around at anytime. God be with you Bob as you ascend to heavenly heights. Tweenette
