CONWAY, Robert Lewis –

On October 9, 2022, after a lengthy illness, Robert Lewis Conway left this earth for his Heavenly home.

Bob was born to Robert and Marie (Levangie) Conway in Weymouth, Massachusetts on December 7, 1945, the oldest of seven children.

After World War II, Bob and his parents moved to his father’s hometown of Flint, Michigan and grew up in the "Little Missouri" neighborhood. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1963. Bob loved many things in life, but the most important things to him were music, his career, and his family.

Music was a life-long passion for Bob, and after graduating high school he performed as the lead singer for Flint-based garage band "The Mis’in Lynx", who played venues throughout the state in the mid-1960’s. Once he left the stage as a performer, a favorite pastime of his was attending live concerts with friends and family.

College remained his life-long goal and Bob eventually graduated from Ferris State College School of Pharmacy in 1968. Bob’s dedication to his career as a pharmacist spanned 50 years. In 1981 he served as President of the Genesee County Pharmaceutical Association and that same year was honored by that organization as Outstanding Pharmacist of the Year. He gave back to his community through his profession by teaching teens about the dangers of drug abuse and parents about household poison prevention. He also volunteered in the pharmacy at the Free Health Clinic in the Flint area. A professional aspiration was to eventually own a clinical pharmacy, which was a goal he achieved in 1982. He was the owner and proprietor of The Richfield Apothecary located on Richfield Road in Flint, which operated for 29 years until is closure in 2011.

Bob’s most cherished passion was his family. On July 19, 1968, Bob married Judith Tomei Conway at Holy Redeemer Church. Together they had two beloved children, Rob and Marybeth. In time his family grew to include his daughter-in-law, Vesna Kaluza and his adored grandchildren, Ian and Stella. Bob’s love of his family gave him great happiness in his final years.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie; brothers, Patrick and Timothy and sister, Dawn Metivier.

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Conway; son and daughter-in-law, Rob Conway, MD and Vesna Kaluza, MD; daughter, Marybeth; grandchildren, Ian and Stella Conway; brothers, Jim and Donald (Darla) and sister, Robin D’Angelo; many nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.

As per Bob’s wishes there will be a cemetery service only for family members.

Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Williamston, MI, where he had resided since his retirement.

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind be always at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And the rain fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Judy, our deepest condolences on Bob's passing.

Judy, I'm so very sorry to hear this sad news. I learned something new about Bob...his love for music! We called him "Mr. Science Man" in 7th grade. May you, Marybeth, and Rob find comfort knowing he was loved by so many.

At the time, none of us in the Lynx realized what a voice
Bob had. Only later, listening to our old tapes, did I realize it.

was my pleasure to be friends with Bob...we had many years of friendship from elementary school, through high school, and adulthood.....now he's singing happily and peacefully.....miss you my friend

Bob had an amazing mind for music and medicine. Bob and Skog went to concerts together for many years.
And the groups they enjoyed were seldom mainstream. May you Rest in Peace dear friend.
