I am so sorry to hear of Bob's death. My mother sent me the obituary from the Times-Union. (I feel I am being disrespectful calling him Bob--it was always Mr. and Mrs. Cook at the Sea Turtle!) I worked for them for several years while I was in high school and college in the 1970s. Such warm, wonderful people. They were always very accommodating about letting me earn some money during my vacations from school. It certainly helped me financially. My thoughts and best wishes are with the Cook...

It has been our pleasure to have been friends with Bob and Peggy for over twenty five years and it is our only regret that we didn’t get together more often. But we kept in touch through phone calls, letters and later e-mails, discussing our mutual interest in Edgar Rice Burroughs, Sherlock Holmes and movies.
Even knowing of Bob’s medical problems over the past few years, it still came as a shock to learn of his death. His leg much have give him a lot of problems and grief, but he...

I met Bob many years ago through our mutual interest in the writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs. He was a kind and generous person, and a great man. He is missed in Burroughs fandom.

"Cookie" the Wazirian was my friend. We talked via e-mail many times, and I telephoned him twice when I got unlimited long distance3 for a cheap price.
It was great putting a voice to all the friendly words we exchanged! When I joined ERB-APA Bob encouraged me, and gave me helpful hints of what to write. I thought I had to write novella length erudite article, but he showed me I had to jhust share my love and enjoyment of Edgar rice Burroughs in the APAs!
When he retired from health...

Bob was a fellow member of the Burroughs Bibliophiles, and joined the ERB Amateur Press Association the same time as I did, in 1994. Whenever we found ourselves at a convention together, we always tried to schedule a dinner. I will always treasure those dinners with Bob and Peggy, beginning with the World Science Fiction Convention in New Orleans in 1988. Our personal friendship was as important to me as his contributions to the Burroughs Bibliophiles over the years.

I knew Bob through the pages of ERBapa (the Edgar Rice Burroughs Amateur Press Association quarterly publication), and often exchanged "mailing comments" with him in that venue. We met at a Burroughs gathering in Southern California several years ago. Bob was a really great guy, friendly to everyone. That was the year that Bob was especially touched by an incident at a Chicago Zoo, where a young child fell into the gorilla enclosure. The child's parents were, naturally, panic stricken, but...

Bob "Cookie" Cook, THE WAZIRIAN, as he was known on the Edgar Rice Burroughs Internet email groups, was a fine fellow and good friend. We agreed to disagree on certain things and maintained a boisterous commentary for nearly 10 years. Never met the man in person, rarely agreed on anything--treasured his thoughts regarding our gentle madness as--I hope--he did mine, all those lovely years. S-Long, pard'ner!
