Although we lived miles apart, I in Alaska and Bob in Washington and Oregon, we maintained a personal and professional relationship that endured for several decades. Our get-togethers were almost monthly when Bob and Merle were in Seattle and then dropped off to sorta annually when they moved to Oregon. There was never a lull in the conversation in these meetings. Topics ranged from Regional and National environmental issues to politics to sports. He particularly enjoyed harpooning...

Bob and Merle were my landlords and neighbors in Seattle. I remember Bob's intelligence and wit and enjoyed attending the theater with them and the wonderful July 4th parties.

Our sympathies to Art and his family on the passing of Art's father, Bob.

Bob was my mentor and colleague in the water pollution control office in Portland, later in EPA Seattle. His wit and intelligence were incomparable, and his marriage with Merle was the clear joy of his life. Bob's unique humor and commentary on the world will be missed, and our thoughts and prayers remain with Merle with love.

My name is Dick Othus. I grew up with a Donny and Bob Coughlin who lived on 59th or 60th off of Sandy Boulevard. Their mother owned a resteraunt i McMinville. Donny as we called him then was the younger brother whom i spent many memorable times with. Bob was just enough older that we did not socialize. I was wondering if the is the same family.
