Not sure what to say?

Uncle Bob was the greatest, a kind, funny, caring and oh yes, decorated and accomplished man. Seeing him at any MacPherson or Newmyer gathering was always a great time. Miss him.

My Great Uncle Bob was just that, "great"! I have many fond memories of times spent with him while growing up. From setting off fireworks in his front yard to playing golf with him at Army Navy CC, he was always a figure of honor and decency. Though my path of life took me many miles from him, I always felt the bond of his love and respect. I am so blessed that my children got the chance to meet and know my "Great" Uncle Bob. We love you and will miss you!

I am a lifelong friend of Boo's. I remember Uncle Bob since I was a child. For some reason even the friends of Boo loved Uncle Bob.What a tower of strength he set forth. I last saw him at Aunt Nollie's funeral many years ago. His sense of humor was so uplifting. He even made us laugh at the viewing.
May his smile, laughs and strength stay with us always.
So long Soldier, so many in the USA are proud of you.
God Bless America

Dear Uncle Bob,
You have left an indelible legacy in my personal memory and in our family's life. Your spirit shines like a beacon, radiating warmth and connecting us one to another. I feel it deeply when I recall how much joy you brought to my mother, Elsie, and to me, Jackie and Rod, particularly, after my father died. I know you and Porter, with your playful sense of humor, must have been a raucus pair. Again, I thank you for being a bedrock constant, for our family, at the time of...

Thanks for the memories. Your spirit will be with us always.

Uncle Bob's sense of humor was only eclipsed by his sense of decency. I'll miss exchanging novels with him and having that icon of a man to look up to. He was always there for my family, making tough things easier and making great memories, too.

Uncle Bob & Aunt Muriel were a big part of our lives growing up. They were definitely people to look up to. They set an encouraging example for several generations of our family. The look I saw in my mom's eyes after my dad died is the same look I've seen in Uncle Bob's eyes since Aunt Muriel left us. The look of longing to be back together with their lifelong partner. Now they will spend eternity together. Say "hi" to my mom & dad for me. Love, betty

My particular branch of the MacPherson family loved Uncle Bob in a special way. Though not born a MacPherson, he was devoted to the family and a stalwart shoulder to lean on. He and Muriel were the ones we here in Richmond were the closest to. When he was in command of the "Old Guard" we visited him several times with my mother and father, Marian and Roddy. Our whole family was SO proud of him! He was so much more than a great soldier, he was a proud American - one that we should all strive...

Uncle Bob handled his life transitions better than anyone I've ever known. Also he never lost his excitement from his airborne days. In later years when backing out his new Lexus, he would get within a millimeter of nearby cars knowing full well what he was doing. He said that was his "jump for the day."
