Thoughts and prayers for the northern Deans from one of the Southern Deans.

My sincere condolences to the Dean family. I have so many fond memories of my years working with Bob at Verax. He was an inspiration for me to always think outside the box and not let preconceived notions limit the range of possibility.

To the Deans When I think of Bob three words come immediately to mind: Brilliant, Risk-Taker, and Leader. His brilliance was obvious, his appetites for risk and capacity for leadership were ubiquitous. Who else but Bob would take the risk of leading a band of 10-13 year-old boys camping, no equipment needed, for a weekend in February to teach them winter survival skills. Or lead this group on white-water canoe trips first down the Allagash through the woods of Maine and then face the...

Dear Nancy, James, and all the Deans: I offer heartfelt condolences for the passing of one of the most creative, dynamic and irrepressibly optimistic thinkers I have ever known. Bob constantly challenged you to think outside the box... and made the world a better place. -Ron

My most sincere condolences to the Dean family. It is no exaggeration to say that we will remember Bob as, really, one of a kind. A kind man with formidable intellect, a professor with original ideas, an inventor, an entrepreneur and businessman like no other, someone who could take our thinking to places it had not gone before.
