Mr. Robert Hundley DeHart, Sr., age 71, of Rome, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, after a long illness.
Mr. DeHart was born in Macon on February 1, 1945, son of the late Garnett Hundley DeHart and the late Verna Mae Maddox DeHart. He was a graduate of Grady High School in Atlanta. He attended Georgia State University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He moved to Rome in 1981 when he took a job with the Northwest Georgia Public Health District as the District Environmental Health Director. He went on to become the Health Assessment Prevention and Promotion Director and retired in 2005.
Mr. DeHart leaves behind his wife Lynn of 44 years; two sons: Robert Hundley DeHart, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Cartersville, and Jason Neal DeHart and his wife Amy of Rome; a sister, Mary Catherine Neal, Buffalo, NY; two grandchildren: Ella Grace DeHart and Evan Neal DeHart; three nephews: Timothy Neal, his wife Elizabeth and daughter Emily, Christopher Neal, his wife Mila, daughter Maja and son Luka, and Patrick Neal, his wife Anne Marie, and sons Alessio and Giancarlo; sister-in-law Shannen Ferry, brother-in-law Hank Ferry and his wife Beatrice, and sister-in-law Ellen Ferry.
A memorial service will be held at The Well at West Rome Baptist Church at 3pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, with the Rev. Mark Cosby officiating.
The family will receive friends at The Well from 1pm until time for the service.
