Greenidge Funeral Home Inc - Atlantic City Obituary

Minister Robert Dingle, known to family and friends as "Bobby," was born to Blanche Myers Dingle and Leroy Dingle on September 21, 1947 in Branchville, South Carolina. Minister Dingle left this world peacefully on February 11, 2013. Robert was the youngest of four children, Archie, Peter, and Luraine. The family migrated from South Carolina to the Bronx, New York, in the late 1940s, and in 1955, they moved to Jamaica, Queens, New York. Robert graduated from Aviation High School, Queens, New York, and then attended the Academy of Aeronautics, in Queens, New York. Subsequently, Robert served in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge. If you knew Robert, surely you heard one of his comical stories from his stint in the Marine Corps. After serving his country, Robert worked for Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority and retired as a Peace Officer. In June of 1971, he married Carolyn Jones and their union produced two children, Shanya and Yannick Dingle. Although their union ended in divorce, Carolyn and Robert remained good friends and together they raised two successful children. In 1987, Robert moved from New York to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and eventually he relocated to Pleasantville, New Jersey. In Pleasantville, Robert discovered a new church home, Faith Baptist Church. It was there that Robert became a devout member and began to serve within the church community. He was a treasurer for Faith Baptist Church and the Atlantic City Vicinity Fellowship of Churches. Robert was a Sunday school teacher; he was part of the kitchen committee, and President of the Men's Fellowship Ministry. Upon receiving God's calling to preach, Minister Dingle began his Christian studies. In 1997, Minister Dingle graduated from Emmanuel Bible Institute. He received a certificate from Philadelphia College of the Bible in 1999 and a certificate of ordination from International Ministerial Fellowship / Jameson Evangelistic Association in 2004. Also in 2004, Minister Dingle received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Jameson Christian College and he received his Master of Arts degree from International Christian University in 2006. Most recently, Minister Dingle was honored to have received the "I.S. Cole Faithful Service Award" for The Atlantic City Vicinity Fellowship of Churches. Robert also served on the City of Pleasantville's Zoning Board. Having known Robert was a blessing and he will be missed dearly. Robert had an astonishing ability to make anybody smile or laugh. He was an extremely caring individual who showed love to all his family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his father, Leroy Dingle; his mother, Blanche Myers Dingle, and his brother, Archie Dingle. He is survived by: his two children, Shanya Dingle of Atlanta, Georgia, and Yannick Dingle of Vineland, New Jersey; as well as his brother and sister, Peter Dingle of Marietta, Georgia and Luraine Braswell of Stone Mountain, Georgia; and a host of family and friends. Take comfort in the fact that assuredly he's looking down upon us from heaven with family and friends of the past who have already made the blessed journey.
